Just what every fur mom wants to hear....

"Great news! They arrived on the earlier flight today so they are here and settled already! The gals at the airport were fawning over them :-) They are such a cute pair!"

Of course they are cute--and well behaved. :)

Dropped the two fur babies off at the airport this am. They meowed when I separated them to get them downstairs but as soon as they were in the big kennel together they were quiet. They didn't say anything when I was with them at the airport. So much better behaved than most animals that arrived there so I'm told.

The movers arrived two days early--Saturday afternoon instead of Monday so it was a bit frantic that afternoon but no problem--I got it done. OK, the movers got it done. My stuff is now in storage awaiting my arrival in mid-September. The rest of my belongings will meet me in GP at the end of September. So very happy about that. I keep looking at the apartment layout and re-arranging all my furniture in my head. It will be very exciting to finally move in...and I will be kept busy for weeks re-arranging furniture. :)

Tundra behind the gate. Hudson was hiding in the back.

A couple of weeks ago we were lazy, happy kitties.
Now we are traveling kitties again. Tundra loves to travel but it always worried she won't get fed. LOL
I bought a couple of paintings from a local artist. The two paintings on the board beside him are mine. I am not on vacation but what a  wonderful way to remember my time here in Fort Mac. I've been in a number of times to see his work. He does wonderful portraits. I love the smell of oil paint and turpentine in the shop.

And this past weekend I tried my hand at geocaching. What is it?

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device[2] and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches", anywhere in the world.
A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook where the geocacher enters the date they found it and signs it with their established code name. Larger containers such as plastic storage containers (Tupperware or similar) or ammunition boxes can also contain items for trading, usually toys or trinkets of little value. Geocaching shares many aspects with benchmarking, trigpointing, orienteering, treasure-hunting, letterboxing, and waymarking.
Geocaches are currently placed in over 200 countries[citation needed] around the world and on all seven continents, including Antarctica,[3] and the International Space Station.[4] After more than 12 years of activity there are over 1.7 million active geocaches published on various websites. There are over 5 million geocachers worldwide.[5]

So there you have it. Here's a few pictures from the trip.

When you find a geocache you should sign it and let people know when you found it.
This is the cache I found. They don't all look like this.

 Can you see it?
No, look closer.....

See the bolt behind the bolt....that's it.

I may have found  a fun new hobby.

Just a few random shots that I managed to upload from the Yukon/Alaska trip.

Where does the time go? I have no idea. Work is terrific. I am really enjoying the new company I am with...yeah! The first week was spent in Grande Prairie, second in Red Deer and Calgary then a week traveling with my new boss. Good times. I'm back in the Mac the next two weeks and am ready to go...well, sorta.

I have the apartment--YEAH!! I have the movers scheduled, not only for my stuff from FMM but my stuff from PEI as well. Phone, cable, internet, etc is booked and the cat sitter was booked just waiting confirmation. All that is left is to find someone to clean the carpets and I'm done. I just wish it was sooner.

Can't wait to get to GP to get immersed in the new job and new life. It is odd working from afar when you are not yet familiar with the new job. No worries...I know, soon enough I will be in GP.

The cats are obviously aware that something is going on. I've traveled the past three weeks and every day there are more boxes stacked in the closet. However I am able to keep them distracted by simply playing with the laser pointer I got them. They drive me bonkers some days wanting me to play with it....but I need to occasionally not play with it so they do not expect it every night.

And now...I'm off to play laser tag with the two furry monsters in my bedroom.

Got the apartment that I was hoping for. YEAH!! I keep looking at the floor plan I was given and sighing. There is so much space in the apartment we will truly be lost and the cats can have their own bedroom--NOT. LOL. The second bedroom will become a wonderful craft room for me. You have no idea how excited I am to move into this much larger apartment. I did live in a smaller bachelor pad in Iqaluit but I also didn't have 2 furry pets sharing the space with me at that time and the layout was much better.

Our latest bit of entertainment is playing with the new laser pointer I bought. Oh my goodness someone thinks that is the bomb. Actually both of them do. Even Tundra will run up and down the hallway to get after the light. They recognize the sound of the chain attached to it and they know I keep it under my pillow....too smart for me....

Off to the head office in Red Deer tomorrow and then Calgary Wednesday evening and Thursday and then home Thursday night....man I love this company. :)

Back in the Mac since Friday evening and wondering who managed to make all this mess since I got back. I know it was me but it would be so much easier to blame the cats.

They survived their 5 days alone with no issues at all. They still had lots of food and water so I have no issues leaving them alone for 5 days in the future. They passed the test. I think they missed me every bit as much as I missed them....I'm truly turning into the crazy cat lady who can't stop talking about her cats or showing pictures of them around as my new colleagues will attest to.

Still waiting word on the apartment so hopefully I get that call sometime tomorrow. Once that happens I will be able to breathe a sigh of relief and move on to the next stage of moving including getting the cable, internet, etc set up.

And I have decided to join the present century and am getting myself a cell phone. But not just any phone an Iphone. Since I will be traveling with my new job I want to be able to still have access to friends and family so the iphone will allow me to email, facebook, blog, etc but without having to carry around a 5 pound computer. I can call from anywhere on the road and receive calls as well. I think it will be the right solution for my new lifestyle.

Picked up the new glasses yesterday and will post a shot I took of them. Hard to get a picture of oneself using a webcam.

And now I'm off for the afternoon to hang with friends and enjoy the sunshine. Enjoy your weekend.

Viewed a couple of apartments the other day and went back yesterday (Thursday) to put my damage deposit down on one of them. They are in the middle of approving my application and I will hopefully know no later than Monday if I have been deemed worthy. I don't know why I always fret over this kind of thing...stupid really but I worry that I will not be accepted. It is quite a process to get approval. I had to provide a statement from my employer with proof that I make 3X the rent, proof from previous landlords that I pay on time and am not a party animal. And pictures of my cats so they can see them for the approval.

So I wait.

The apartment I picked is great. It is older and has carpet which I could live without but the cats will love. There are two bedrooms. One for sleeping, one for a craft room. There is a large storage closet that I will put a deep freeze in and a couple of other closets for storage. The living room/dining room is huge 12 feet X 20 feet. I won't have enough furniture for this. LOL. And the deck...well, the deck is what sold me I think. It is about 20 feet long. Lots of room for plants, sitting and cats.

This morning I'm off to view the Kitty Condos in town to check before I make the arrangements to send the cats over later in the month. Yes, the cats will travel in style again flying in to GP while I follow by truck. I think it is more for my sanity than theirs. I do not think I would like to spend 10 hours driving with two cats.

Off to my last day of work for this week. First week has been great and I look forward to the rest. Have a great weekend.

in Grande Prairie this week. Flew in on Monday will fly back to FMM on Friday. Doing some orientation and trying to find an apartment in between meetings. Going to view one today and see if I am worthy enough to tour another one. LOL. Wish me luck.
